Bringing my ESA dog to places that understand and accommodate the needs of those with disabilities can be a challenge, but the Marigold and Aster crew were a breath of fresh air. They welcomed Dagr with open arms and went out of their way to create a relaxing and stress-free environment for both of us.
A Relaxing Salon Experience with My ESA Dog
Marigold and Aster didn’t just meet expectations—they exceeded them. As Dagr explored the salon, the staff were not only patient and understanding but genuinely delighted to have him there. Whether he was walking around curiously or resting peacefully at my feet, they treated him with warmth and kindness. I was able to enjoy my appointment knowing that Dagr was just as comfortable as I was.
How to Request ESA Dog Accommodation in Public Spaces
Before my appointment, I emailed the salon to ask if it would be okay for my ESA dog to accompany me. Marigold and Aster were more than happy to accommodate my request. If bringing him inside hadn’t been allowed, my mom was prepared to wait with him outside, as he’s very attached to me and needs to keep me in sight.
My mom joined us to keep an eye on Dagr when I couldn’t. She made sure to take him out for regular bathroom breaks and tidied up after him. While Dagr is a gentle and friendly dog, I’m responsible for his behaviour in public. Ensuring these outings are positive experiences is important—for the dog, the business, and myself!
